Synagogue Update

Dear Friends,

With a great deal of sadness we wish to inform you that Rabbi Lefkowitz is currently a patient at the Lieberman Center recovering from the amputation of his leg. We know you join us in wishing the rabbi a Refuah Shlemah, a speedy recovery.

Our advertisements in the Chicago Jewish Star and our recent newsletter appealing to the community at large seeking their financial support to repair the damage to our synagogue which occurred during the three years of its forced closure have met with a poor response.

As we all know the current economy has placed a severe toll upon Jewish synagogue life in Chicago. In recent years six synagogues in our vicinity have closed. Most recently three synagogues in Northbrook had to merge because of financial difficulties.

In light of the above, we are unable to conduct High Holy Day Services this year. The board of directors is soberly considering the options available to our synagogue.

We wish you a happy and healthy new year.

With our prayers that G-d will guide us in our deliberations.
